Advisory commissions advise the City Council on policy issues. All meetings are open to the public. Agendas are posted in the City Hall lobby and on the City website (see links below).

Now accepting applications as we develop the new Code Review Task Force. This committee will research and advise on a full update to the City Code to help make it clear, understandable and effective to the community. Members will meet at least once a month for 12-24 months. The schedule will be discussed at the initial kickoff meeting. This is a great opportunity to share your perspective and make an impact on Burnsville.

The Burnsville City Council accepts applications from persons interested in serving as a member of an advisory commission. Commissions are responsible for researching, reviewing and making recommendations on related issues.
Opportunities are typically available on the Economic Development Commission, Parks and Natural Resources Commission and Planning Commission. New in 2021, the opportunity to join the Code Review Task Force. The Council also seeks applications from high school juniors and sophomores who are interested in serving on the Parks and Natural Resources Commission.
All terms begin on July 1 each year, and are open to Burnsville residents ages 18 and older (except for Youth Representatives on PNRC). Some memberships are open to people who have a business or own property located in the City. The City Council conducts interviews in May.

Minnesota Statue 471.701 requires that a city or county with a population of more than 15,000 must annually notify its residents of the positions and base salaries of its three highest paid employees. The City of Burnsville’s titles and salaries as of January 1, 2021 are: City Manager: $177,138; Fire Chief: $168,471; PW Director: $168,471.
