In order to comply with recent recommendations regarding the COVID-19 virus, the City of Burnsville is temporarily closing several facilities including the BCTV studio. Please visit www.burnsvillemn.gov/COVID19 for up-to-date information.
The Studio at Burnsville High School is located on the second floor of the High School and the facility includes a 976 square foot studio, oversized control room, three editing stations, set storage, and equipment check out area.
The studio equipment was purchased new in 2009 and professionally installed by Alpha Video. The space was designed by Wold Architects in cooperation with city and school staff with audio visual design by Elert and Associates. The space features:
Community producers and students will share three editing suites that have Final Cut X editing software.
Community producers and students will have access to three portable camera systems. These systems include tripods, lighting, and wireless microphones.
The Burnsville City Council and District 191 School Board have formed a partnership that aims to improve communication with residents, increase education and involvement in the community by youth, and maximize use of public dollars.
The partnership also aims to improve the quality and amount of programming available to citizens, both on cable television and on the internet. The basis of the agreement is the 50/50 ownership approach to the facility.
BCTV staff, with the assistance of community and student camera volunteers, cover 60 local sporting and entertainment events throughout the year. BCTV co-owns a three-camera mobile production truck with the City of Eagan.
